Buyeo

-Sightseeing

<Gungnamji pond>

This is the most oldest artificial pond in Korea and there are Poryongjeong in the center of the pond.
It is connected by wooden bridge. It was constructed by digging a well 8km south of Sabi Castle and drawing fresh running water to it through a pipeline from a river flowing 8km away. This pond was designed according to the theories of geomancy to prevent the spiritual energy from Mt. Geumseong to disperse into the air.It is also famous for birthtale of king Mu who married Seonhwa princess of Silla.

<Nakhwaam>

Its name means the place which fall flowers. When Baekje was demolished, many women of Baekje fell into the Baekmagang by themselves because they wanted to keep their loyalty instead of living shamefully. Later on, people call this place into Nakhwaam which stemmed from the figure that flowers fall into the river. When people look at the Baekmagang, the color of cliff is still red
because of blood of Baekje womens. Ilyeon recorded in Samgukyusa that lots of women fell into the river by themselves in this place.

<Busosanseong>

This fortress, Busosanseong, is also called Sabiseong or Soburiseong because it was designed to protect Sabi, the capital of the Baekje Kingdom. Built in the 16th year of King Seong's reign of Baekje, the fortress surrounds Mt. Busosan, hence the name. Some historians believe that the fortress was already there by the 22nd year of King Dongseongwang's reign , and reconstructed in the 6th year of King Muwang's reign into the form we see today.The sites of three main gates of the fortress are still there, and inside the fortress one can face a number of famous historic sites such as a military depot, Nakhwaam Cliff, Sabiru Pavilion, Yeongillu Pavilion and Goransa Temple. Historians believe that the Baekje kings and aristocracy used the fortress not just for military purposes but, in peaceful times, as a pleasure park.

The Hwangnyongsa Belt contains the site of the Hwangnyongsa Temple. Although Hwangnyongsa Temple was destroyed during the Mongol invasion, its enormous size prior to the destruction can be easily imagined. Some 40,000 excavated relics provide a valuable resource for studying Silla history.
The Myeonghwal Fortress in the Sanseong Belt, believed to have been built earlier than CE 400, demonstrates Silla's fortification techniques that subsequently influenced the fortifications of Japan.
